Star Cellar Door
This is an easy choice as there are really no competitors in the region. Though, if there were, they’d need to operate at a very high level to challenge this long-time winner. This place has it all.
As well as the opportunity to taste the wide array of fine Queensland wines, there is always so much happening. Private tastings of half a dozen wines are available, and for a mere $5, this is one of the best bargains in the Sunshine State. A premium tasting ($45) is also available. The traditional winery tour is another option.
Dining? Sirromet offers not one but three restaurants for visitors. Enjoy a platter and some wines at Cellar Door or for something slightly more serious, The Tuscan Terrace. Those looking for something more akin to fine dining can head to Restaurant Lurleen’s, where there is the option for a tutored tasting.
Accommodation? Well, aside from the myriad of offerings in the CBD, the Gold Coast is not far to the south. Or stay at the winery and enjoy a luxury glamping experience. KEN GARGETT
