So let’s talk about Stone House in Darwin. What a place! What a wine list! Continental borders are no barrier for this exciting, broad ranging and detailed list. Stone House brings us the best from around Australia, and the rest of the world, and manages to do so in an engaging, exciting and enticing manner.

There are five wineries from Corsica featured (Stone House imports wines from here specially), making it the largest selection of Corsican wines certainly in the Territory, if not the country. Stone House has it all. Aged riesling and semillon, Burgundian chardonnay and pinot, Lebanese viognier, orange wines, an impressive and broad ranging shiraz section which focuses on the fine, the full and the cult.

The older vintage wines are indiscriminately peppered throughout the list, there are unexpected twists and turns. In short, absolutely unmissable. If you’re not one for commitment, the By-the-Glass list features a great selection (some served via Coravin), or if you’d rather take a bottle home, they can manage that too.

On the final page: “Things come things go. Please help them go, as I may have bought too much wine. Cheers, Bec”. Nothing would bring us more pleasure, Bec.

Chars Darwin’s ‘Dry Season'’ wine list opens with Kilroy’s Cellar, a strong line-up of boutique Australian labels dating back to 1991 with a highly prized Rockford Basket Press Shiraz. The well-stocked Champagne and sparkling offering is always welcome and celebratory, and a Coravin programme allows for a more diverse selection by the glass, which is good to see. There is also considerable range in the spirits selection, bolstered by cocktails that pack a punch, opening with barrel-aged negronis and boulevardiers. In particular, the vintage depth and range of benchmark producers throughout the list imparts weight and integrity to this well-heeled NT cellar.

Rebecca Bullen’s selection is bursting with character and wine enthusiasm. Established in 2016, the cellar has developed extensive vintage depth and breadth. It’s the sort of list that inspires a visit, right off the page. A good balance of traditional and boutique producers line the Stone House pages, offering Darwin the best of both new and old worlds. An exclusive list of Corsican wine imported directly by the team offers something special. There is plenty of fun to be had here, especially given the (more than) reasonable prices and a takeaway licence.
