Adelaide Hills

It’s rare to find a capital city where you can drive 20 minutes from the CBD and be smack-bang in the middle of rolling vineyards, grand vistas and ancient gums. Adelaide Hills is literally on Adelaide’s doorstep and it boasts some of Australia’s best-known wineries, cracking boutique operators and an exciting, natty wine scene. With the recent devastating bushfires, now is the time to visit and support the winemakers here.

Lake Breeze Wines

Star Cellar Door & Best Tasting Experience

(08) 8537 3017

Lake Breeze is consistently at the pointy end of the Langhorne Creek wine hit list, so make sure a visit to their rustic 1930s ironstone shed is at the top of your list.

It’s a welcoming place with friendly, knowledgeable staff and a lovely view out over the vineyards. The wines are cracking: superb cabernet and shiraz blends, pure with deep, resonant fruit and a wonderful pair of fortifieds, a rare tawny and rare frontignac, that hark back to an undisputed historical lineage that continues to burn brightly.

The kitchen offers a number of delicious dishes and if you are in need of a bed, look no further than Lake Breeze’s bed and breakfast, The Creek Cottage. DAVID BROOKES
