As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, this is the perfect time to visit the iconic cellar door. Vanya Cullen, GT WINE’s Winemaker of the Year in 2000, is at the top of her game and Australia’s finest producer of biodynamic wines. She is a relentless experimenter, making new wines of excellent quality with seeming ease: not only the small volume (and expensive) Vanya Cabernet, the Kevin John Legacy Series, the Flower Day Vanya and the Fruit Day Malbec, but also the Amber, a skin-contact sauvignon blanc fermented in amphorae, and Red Moon, a malbec and petit verdot blend from the Mangan vineyard. The winery restaurant is excellent and a great place to relax over lunch, morning or afternoon tea. Additional products available from the cellar door include the winery’s honey, olive oil and eau-de-vies, which include a mouth-watering limoncello.
