2018 Rolling Shiraz, Orange, A$17

Cumulus’ new and improved Rolling wines (Shiraz, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio) are crafted from premium Orange fruit grown on their exceptional high-altitude estate. This shiraz exhibits lifted red fruit aromas and has a generous palate showing rich fruits and spices – think plum, cardamom and licorice – with softly integrated oak.

Swift NV Cuvée #7, Orange, A$40

This award-winning, chardonnay-dominant methodé traditionnelle wine sits alongside Australia’s finest sparklings. Hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed, it has benefitted from the luxury of time, with added richness from five years spent on lees. The wine has a terrific intensity of white fruit, florals, strawberry and brioche, with a fine but lively mousse.

2018 Fossil Hill Sangiovese, Orange, A$28

Planted more than 20 years ago, Angullong’s sangiovese vines are some of the oldest in NSW, and the maturity of the vines shows in this compelling, medium-bodied wine. While it is youthful now, it has all the elements to age and develop beautifully with time in the bottle. It's bright, layered and juicy flavours are reminiscent of cherry, herbs and dark fruits, held together by fine and balanced tannins. The concentration and length of flavour are a highlight.

2015 Bloodwood Pinot Noir, Orange, A$42

Australian pinot noir falls into three camps. There’s the feeble strawberry brigade with onion skin hues and ever-so-delicate aromas. Then there’s the much more cherry beetroot-plum crowd with their velvety colours and extractive pricing. And then there’s your dry red in a bottle with a pinot noir label on it. Bloodwood Pinot Noir falls in between the first and second categories: a fruit-dense palate, fine-grained tannins and cherry aromatics with grunt.

2017 Sauvignon Blanc, Orange, A$25

Barrel-fermented and aged for 12 months in French oak, with lees stirring once a week, this is a delicious, textural sauvignon blanc that is starting to hit its straps now and will continue to get better for the foreseeable future. It has classic sauvignon blanc flavours of cut grass and citrus combined with vanilla and spice.

2018 Philip Shaw No89 Shiraz, Orange, A$50

A pure expression of cool-climate shiraz, the No89 is brooding and detailed. It has alluring fruit aromas with undertones of spice and earth. On the palate the wine is opulent, with savoury tannins, spice, length and finesse. Hand-harvested and sorted with 60% whole-bunch and 2% co-fermented viognier. Estate-grown at Philip Shaw’s Koomooloo vineyard, situated around 900m above sea level.
