Here's to a Better Tomorrow

As Her Majesty would say, it’s been an annus horribilis and we all know why, so let’s not go into that. Instead, let’s consider all the good things we can celebrate now and look forward to in the coming year.

Popping corks on just about anything is an excellent way to lift flagging spirits so we urge you to follow our recommendations and do just that. Our panel tasted its way through an exciting range of blanc de noirs Champagne and sparklings, as well as a festive selection of sparkling reds, while in Staff Picks we showcase a tidy collection of the increasingly popular meunier-led fizz.

Our wine and food communities have had a particularly rough time of late and deserve our support, that’s why we’re so thrilled to recognise the talent and tenacity of those running the country’s best restaurants, bars and other venues through Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards. Do visit their establishments when you can.

The gongs don’t stop there, we also pay homage to the finalists for our New Zealand Winemaker of the Year Award and present the winner of our New Wine Writer Award, Zachary Philips who, through his entry, provides us all with a much-needed laugh.

In our Top 50 Wine Experiences, writers, winemakers, sommeliers and others nominate where you should head to in Australia and OS given half the chance. But if you’re staying home, we hope you’re going to spoil yourselves with plenty of good wine and food over the coming weeks. We’ve pulled together some delicious dishes to serve when entertaining, and offer outstanding New Release and Best Buy wines, along with some drops from the Loire you might enjoy. Or head to the GT WINE Store  for more suggestions to be delivered to your door. Pick your wine of choice and let’s raise a glass to what we hope will be the annus mirabilis to come.
