It’s amazing what can be done with a bunch of industrial shipping containers and a lot of imagination. When fifth-generation vignerons Nicole Clark and her brother Brad Case opened the Kimbolton Wines cellar door in 2018, it raised the bar. Undeniably modern but tasteful in its aesthetics, it provides a multi-level view across the vineyards. The tasting room and rooftop space feel a bit like a tree house (which makes it a hit with kids). There, regional artisan cheese and wine flights, grazing platters and relaxed wine tastings are led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. The welcome is warm and genuine. Little ones are well looked after with a dedicated Kids Flight and outdoor games. In the glass, expect classics such cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and malbec, and an exciting offering of alternate varieties. Food trucks add to the experience.
