The Berns’ family winery, Sitella, estab-lished in the 1990s, has been going from strength to strength. Its tranquil, picturesque setting and impressive restaurant draws the crowds and as the wines have improved under chief winemaker, Colby Quirk, and Yuri Berns, Sittella has become an essential part of any serious wine lover’s visit to the Swan Valley.
Awards prove the wines have never been better. Sittella won Most Successful Producer at the 2017 Swan Valley Show as well as Best Sparkling, Best Fortified, and four table wine trophies. Three other trophies have been won at national shows. Winning a trip to Champagne with the Vin de Champagne Awards, has given Yuri Berns a fascination with sparkling and these, sourced from Pemberton, have become the winery’s flagship. They have an extensive range of local wines and a well set up cellar door with friendly and knowledgeable staff. PETER FORRESTAL
