The beautiful grounds, historic buildings, tasting room in the old brandy bond store and location just outside Angaston always provide a memorable visit. The range of wines to taste is extensive, from the value-packed quaffers through to the flagship wines (Virgilius, Octavius, Signature and Menzies). Cellar door-only wines are on offer; keep an eye out for the Carriage Block Grenache. Take a class or tour: the Mini Masterclass, hosted by a Yalumba ambassador or winemaker, showcases eight of Yalumba’s top wines, while A Different Perspective combines tasting with a history lesson and a look at the grounds and buildings. There’s also the Bud to Bottle tour, which takes in the nursery, the gnarled ancient vines of the Tri-Centenary Vineyard, a barrel-making demonstration, a tasting of wines direct from the barrel and lunch at the award-winning Vintners Bar & Grill.
