Star Cellar Door
Last year, the Heathcote wine region received a major winery tourism injection with the arrival of a cellar door in the Heathcote township run by one of Australia’s most adventurous wine families, the Chalmers.
The family and their brand offer a brave new wine future for Australian wine drinkers, a kind of diversity in the glass, where European indigenous grapes vermentino, greco, fiano, nero d’Avola, aglianico and many more reside. Open your mind and your tastebuds to a new adventure, the rewards are many. The new cellar door is in residence on the first floor of the Heathcote Inn and a $5 tasting fee applies for a tasting of 11 wines. A range of premium wines will be open during each month and winemaker dinners are in the pipeline. Downstairs, the Heathcote Inn restaurant offers a post-tasting break before continuing on the Heathcote wine route. JENI PORT
