Chiswick’s beverage list is stellar for a number of reasons, but resonates particularly for the finetuning that occurs as seasons change. Winter sees cocktails enhanced with heartier ingredients and fuller flavours, while red wines shift from brighter, fresher styles to selections that come with a little extra plushness and heft. It’s an intuitive and impressive list. 

The list is anchored in the fine wine world with grand marques of Champagne including Dom Pérignon and Taittinger available alongside Australian wines from established, premium producers such as Brokenwood, Crawford River and Best’s. Australia’s emerging generation of winemakers also find a place. It’s great to see vignerons like Ravensworth and The Wine Farm with their expressive wines. 

This is a clever list that offers drinkers the familiar, but also a chance to explore young, fresh and vibrant drops from emerging wine styles and grape varieties. Chiswick shows that having no misses is possible, with a carefully selected compilation of high-quality wines, simpatico with what is coming out of the kitchen.  Mike Bennie
