Digestif – the last drinks of the night and the last category on any wine list, but how often are drinkers let down? Not at Black Bar& Grill. Final drinks are taken very seriously here with page after page of deliciousness, starting with muscat and finishing with rum.

Rutherglen kicks off the list with muscat and topaque ending with a dip into the precious Seppeltsfield Paramount Collection. James Godfrey, fortified maker at Penfolds, has some of his finest work on display under the ‘Tawny & Vintage’ listing, including his masterworks: Penfolds Great Grandfather 30-Year-Old Rare Tawny and 50-Year-Old Rare Tawny.

It’s a delightful segue into Ports and classic makers such as Warres, Fonseca, Ramos Pinto and Quinta Do Vesuvio with vintages going back to 1970. Madeira offers a nice contrast with a rare 1898 Solera from Henriques & Henriques the star.

Eau de vie, a powerful collection of cognacs, grappa, tequila, marc, armagnac and calvados – the latter nicely juxtaposed by a couple of New Jersey brandies – follow. All are available by the 30ml taste.
