Regional restaurants are a superb way to gain an insight into the wines of an area, and Settlers Tavern is one of the most excellent examples around. In fact, you could skip the local winery tour altogether and wine and dine here instead.
It must be said upfront that the Settlers Tavern wine list is proudly international; however, its offering of local wines within this context is simply outstanding, with over fifty wineries represented.
Established producers and classic wines are well supported. However, what sets this list apart is its inclusion of small volume, artisanal wines. It definitely has its finger on the pulse, so, if you want to find out what is new and hip in Margaret River, this is your place.
To aid decision-making, the list is brimming with informal and chatty prose about wine style and producer. This encourages experimentation and gives one the confidence to try something new.
